Balances 2024
Back in September, in the evocative setting of S. Francesco al Prato, Seed is the Festival where project culture and the humanities meet to discuss the challenges and opportunities that await us. Together with artists, scientists, philosophers, psychologists, economists, academics and entrepreneurs, four days dedicated to the future of the planet.
The 21st century is characterised by widening social, economic, ecological, and technological imbalances that deepen inequalities and geographical divides and by widespread political instability that undermines the resilience of State organisations and government frameworks.
This state of uncertainty, which shapes the organisation of cities and, more generally, the forms of living, evokes balance as a value and a perspective. The word “balance” denotes a dynamic and relational condition that can never be achieved once and for all (hence the plural balances) and must be sought by considering the reality in which we live as a complex system. Engaging with complexity means addressing emerging phenomena, exploring their limits and possibilities, and attempting to reconcile at times conflicting needs and interests.
Seed investigates some key issues for the future of our planet, subjecting them to accurate measurement and fostering reflection to generate proposals, ideas, projects, public policies and informed choices.
